Why will the Hawks not investigate SARS second-in-command?

President Jacob Zuma finally paid back R7,814,155 for the non-security upgrades at his Nkandla home. It is due to independent and credible institutions, the Office of the Public Protector and the Constitutional Court, that the president was made to reimburse the state for undue benefits. But other institutions continue to be compromised by scandal and political agendas, allowing for impunity and cover-ups. Suspicious deposits into SARS chief officer Jonas Makwakwa and his partner’s accounts have been flagged as possible proceeds of crime or money laundering. Two American B-1B Lancers entered Korean airspace in a show of force to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The flight, escorted by ROK and US fighter jets, was in reaction to a recent nuclear test by the North, and ongoing indications that a second test was on the cards. Read More

Russian metals giant admits river pollution

Russian company Norilsk Nickel has conceded that its operations have turned a local river completely red. Norilsk admitted that heavy rains had compromised a facility near the Daldykan River in Northern Russia, thereby contaminating the local water source. Read More
