ConCourt Nkandla ruling: Move Number Four – ANC accepts Zuma’s apology 

President Jacob Zuma’s apology following the Constitutional Court judgment in the Nkandla matter has been accepted by his party, the ANC. This was the late Monday night outcome of the ANC national working committee (NWC) extended to anyone from the ANC top decision-making structure between conferences, the national executive committee (NEC). It could have been an ANC NEC meeting given that 80 committee’s members gathered at a Cape Town hotel on the eve of the DA motion to remove the president in Parliament. The meeting was the latest of a series since Friday as the governing party moves to mitigate the fall-out of the judgement amid calls for Zuma to step down from within and outside ANC in this local government election year. SANDF condemns union statements
The South African National Defence Force has strongly condemned a statement by the South African National Defence Union (Sandu to oppose President Jacob Zuma. In a statement, Sandu national secretary, Advocate JG ‘Pikkie’ Greeff, called on members of the defence force to oppose Zuma and participate in his downfall. In this instance, Sandu may well have got slightly too excited about last Thursday’s ConCourt ruling.

Tuesday’s primaries will see Democrats and Republicans vying for critical votes after a 10-day period of calm. For Republicans, Wisconsin is the bastion of party stoicism, meaning this should be an obvious Ted Cruz state. For Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, however, the latter faces a resurgent Bern-unit that has won five of the last six states.
