Happy Holidays??? I think not, here its known as Merry CHRISTMAS.. I say again CHRISTMAS........

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 11:16 AM

Aaah yes, Absolutely agree. "Happy Holidays", was a woke democrat American thing, which has spread world wide. Trump is back. So is Merry Christmas in USA. Hopefully the world will get back on course. Over Christmas, I avoid supporting "Happy Holidays" Shops and businesses wherever possible.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 11:33 AM

Look, you are 100% right. Even though most of the world takes this time off (holiday), and only some of the world are christian, of course, we must force the religion on the non-christians with angry words, because that definitely works. Keep up the good work of spreading the word my brother.

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 12:42 PM

Mr Fair, You deliberately miss the point. Christianity is by far the most popular religion globally. Christmas has been celebrated globally for 1700 years. Wokeness should be inclusive of all religions, without a drive to exclude christianity. You're naturally an angry person. Unfair.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 01:02 PM

It's hard to take you seriously when you use made-up silly words. Xmas is a mixed holiday of various beliefs with a date unrelated to The XMan. Roman propaganda really. Nobody is stopping you from calling it what you want. Just don't force it on us like this, it doesn't help your cause.

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 01:28 PM

Theres only one person who Mr Fair takes seriously. Himself. You sound woke. So therefore the dictionary is of no relevance to you. Woke people have a woke unwritten cancel culture dictionary they make up to suit their deranged awakeness. A moving target, invisible dictionary.

John P Dec 20, 2024, 02:28 PM

More than 200 million Christians celebrate Christmas on January 7th. What about new years day which is part of the festive season? Should Madam and Eve wish every religion a seperate happy holiday?

John P Dec 21, 2024, 04:45 PM

Woke :aware, especially of social problems such as racism and inequality: Cambridge dictionary. Seems you would have a different meaning for the word?

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 11:22 AM

I am sure that your happiness and love for all mankind, that the namesake of the holiday encourages, will leave a joyous impression on all who read it. I for one, am definitely considering re-reading the old book because of the holiday cheer you are spreading. Have a great time with your family.

Karen G Dec 20, 2024, 11:43 AM

I agree, happy to wish non Christians Happy Diwali or Happy Eid or Happy Hannukkah - why can't Christians get Christmas?

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 01:40 PM

Woke cancel culture basically aims to restrict christmas and its celebration lest it offends others of another religion. Basically wokeness, supposedly a culture that is supposed to be sensitive to many causes, is progressively trying to cancel Christmas. Christians being targeted.

andrew.farrer Dec 20, 2024, 01:56 PM

no, not woke, just moving away from only addressing christians and embracing all superstitious idiots and athiests as well :)

John P Dec 20, 2024, 04:50 PM

"Merry Christmas" is an Anglican Bishop's greeting to Thomas Cromwell in 1534. Christ's mass of around 1038 became Christmas over many years, prior to that it was Yule and before that the 25th was midwinter's day. So Happy Holidays originally from the mid 1800s fits the bill.

Steve Davidson Dec 21, 2024, 07:03 AM

This is a notice for the DM. I have just had a yet another reasonable comment rejected by your system. I am therefore resigning from any further contact with your publication whether reading it or commenting on it. I find it disgraceful from an organization that peddles itself as the voice of the people, when in fact it's only certain 'people' that are allowed to comment.

John P Dec 21, 2024, 04:39 PM

Did you receive an email from DM that your comment was rejected? Is it just sitting in limbo with nothing happening? Copy paste the exact same comment and try again, I find it usually goes through the second time.

Simon Rhoades Dec 21, 2024, 04:06 PM

Waaah!!! Diddums gwumpy because bad man used words he doesn't like. Waaaahh!!

6141840 Dec 20, 2024, 11:21 AM

Happy holidays says I. Anything else is pie in the sky!

dalamba127 Dec 20, 2024, 11:32 AM

Happy holidays! I say again, happy holidays.

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 12:57 PM

No problem. Enjoy your Happy holidays. Notably the original meaning of the word Holiday meant special religious days. Hence Christmas. As time goes on, all words evolve. For example woman. Nobody knows what that is anymore. I choose to celebrate traditional Christmas. And traditional women.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 01:12 PM

A new level of entertainment, thanks! Not only have you made a happy cartoon into a conservative religious rant, but now you are also expressing your misogyny. Hang on while I get some popcorn and wait for the reactions to your beliefs that men rule, and women cook and clean and do baby stuff.

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 01:05 PM

Good for you, But don't celebrate new year. For you it would be a myth. It doesn't exist for you since the date reflects the number of years since the birth of Jesus. Use some other calendar since you don't recognize Christmas.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 01:18 PM

Correct. The Julian (read up on that - Roman politics, not religion) calendar is simply useful for synchronising appointments. New years is just another day, and means nothing to me. Every day is a new one. I'm not stuck in the past. Are you, Mr "Traditional women" and "Wokeness" and "Trump"?

Greeff Kotzé Dec 20, 2024, 01:47 PM

No, it doesn’t accurately count the number of years since the birth of Jesus, actually. At this point, our calendar is just a cultural convention that has been revised several times to approximate the movements of some elements of the solar system (which it still does poorly, too).

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 01:06 PM

Please note that the people getting angry about their religion, which started in the Levant, the area now claimed, violently, for Jewish people exclusively.. defend that racism, even though at LEAST 3 religions have roots in the area, but somehow christians support it being for Judaism only. Odd.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 01:53 PM

I can't wait for Easter Sunday! When the angry conservatives try to argue when I call it "Hidden Chocolate Chicken-Bum-Drops from Toothy Rodent" day.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 02:22 PM

Malcolm & Gavin, I presume that you disallow hiding the eggs for the young ones in your family, right? It's got nothing to do with what you think Easter should be, right? So as per your arguments above about new years, xmas etc. you must, of course, be against that tradition, and enforce it, right?

dalamba127 Dec 20, 2024, 03:50 PM

They certainly don't seem to be merry ... let alone happy ?

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 05:09 PM

Don't have an answer right now. Busy staring at my holiday tree watching my holiday lights and holiday presents. Mother holiday came early this year, fully equipped with testicles and a 5 o clock shadow.

Malcolm McManus Dec 20, 2024, 04:18 PM

I'm guessing your relatively young and yes. Times are changing. I grew up in a life where Christmas was a big thing. Well celebrated and adored in most of the Christian world. There are those who would like that destroyed. Can't understand why. Doesn't hurt anyone.

Mr. Fair Dec 20, 2024, 05:20 PM

Nobody is destroying your Christmas by INCLUDING Hannukah etc. by saying "Happy Holidays". Focus on the "Happy" you old fart. Oh, and enjoy telling the grandkids about the fat old man & the chimney that is in the Bible. Magical times.

Ute Zander Dec 20, 2024, 07:04 PM

Celebrate the way you want, greet the way you want and let others do as they want. Why so easily offended by a polite response from sby with a different viewpoint. It does not negate yours. Merry Xmess to all.

peter selwaski Dec 21, 2024, 10:58 AM

Merry Christmas to all from the United States.

Malcolm McManus Dec 21, 2024, 09:25 PM

Thank you Peter. merry Christmas to you and family.

Simon Rhoades Dec 22, 2024, 10:22 AM

Happy Holidays, Malcolm!!

stephenfrancis183 Dec 21, 2024, 05:49 PM

Thanks for your comments, everyone! Happy Holidays! With love from Stephen & Rico.

Ian Gwilt Dec 21, 2024, 09:38 PM

Also, it is Christmas , not Xmas
