Elon Musk’s drug use worries Tesla and SpaceX leaders, reports Wall Street Journal

Elon Musk’s drug use has worried executives and board members at businesses he runs, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the billionaire and the companies.
Musk has used LSD, cocaine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms, often at private parties, the Journal said, citing unnamed witnesses and others with knowledge of the matter. People close to the Tesla and SpaceX chief executive officer told the newspaper his drug use was ongoing, and that, in particular, he was consuming ketamine. Musk said in August he had a prescription to use the drug as an antidepressant.
I have serious concerns about SSRIs, as they tend to zombify people.
Occasional use of Ketamine is a much better option, in my opinion. I have a prescription for when my brain chemistry sometimes goes super negative.

After Musk puffed on a joint containing marijuana on Joe Rogan’s podcast in September 2018, the Pentagon reviewed the federal security clearance tied to his role as CEO of Space Exploration Technologies, which is certified to launch military spy satellites, Bloomberg News first reported in March 2019.
“After that one puff with Rogan, I agreed, at NASA’s request, to do 3 years of random drug testing,” Musk (52) posted on Sunday on X, the social media company he owns. “Not even trace quantities were found of any drugs or alcohol.”
Musk didn’t respond to a request for comment from Bloomberg News. Alex Spiro, an attorney for the billionaire, told the Journal that his client was “regularly and randomly drug tested at SpaceX and has never failed a test”, and referred to “false facts” in the article, but didn’t detail them.
SpaceX is now the only US company approved to transport Nasa astronauts to and from the International Space Station. The Pentagon has stepped up purchases of launches from the closely held company in recent years, and in June contracted with SpaceX’s satellite communications business Starlink to support Ukraine’s military.
The Journal reported that Linda Johnson Rice, who became a Tesla director in 2017, didn’t stand for re-election two years later out of frustration with Musk’s behaviour and her concerns about his alleged drug use.

Could Musk have been the guinea pig for the brain implant division (Neuralink) ? No wonder he behaves more bizarrely than even Trump ! Ag Shame .
I don’t like Musk either, but like it or not, he has done more good for this planet than you or I ever have or will do. And it is likely that developments such as neurolink will help people in the future in ways we cannot even imagine yet. A comparison to Trump is absolutely wrong and unwarranted.

Thats hardly a basis for comparison. But it does seem to confirm that more and more people purely judge others by their political views and nothing else. It’s one of those huge fallacies that because a person believes in one thing, they automatically believe in others. You get people that are pro guns but also pro abortion for instance. So just because someone supports something Musk said doesn’t mean they are automatically a white nationalist or part of his fan base.
Credit where it is due I would say. I think Musk is arrogant and krass, but many of the things he does are awesome.

Can people be centrist and support topics from both the left and the right? Does Musks aversion to some of the current DEI thrusts of the left mean he is a ardent supported of white supremacy? Did I compare Musk to Hitler? No, I never mentioned Musk. I pointed out that political beliefs revolve around your core beliefs. You can’t separate someone’s political views from the person. Unless that person is lying about their political views, then you can trust them even less.
As to Musk? He has been spreading conspiracy theories, including voter fraud conspiracies, and making the internet a cesspool in the name of “free speech”. Except when that free speech is directed at him, then he threatens to sue. He also seem to align strongly with Trump’s views, which IS very racist and Trump IS a white supremacist.
In the last few years Musk has become unstable, which is even worrying his own companies. Is this related to drug use? Or related to the circles he now move in? I don’t know.
Since my comment was in response to Timothy and his comparison to Trump, you bringing up Hitler as a retort in context definitely indirectly did make a Musk to Hitler comparison.
As for your other views we will have to agree to disagree. None of your points are anything more than an opinion (and clearly you fell for the whole drug use smear campaign hook line and sinker).

I agree that Musk is being a hypocrite defending free speech but censoring comments that put himself into a bad light, but that changes nothing about the fact that the left has been policing speech and thought heavily in the last few years. That is no conspiracy theory. Not sure what other ones you may mean but pls elaborate. As for the election denial accusation, all Musk said as far as I know (and pls do correct me if I am wrong) was the following:

Of course if one believes everything Huffpost or NYT publishes, one would be misled to think Musk is some right wing fanatic. What he is is an arrogant, narcissistic man that has a knack to putting his foot in his mouth, but thats about it.

I don’t think the social or political standing standing of someone voicing criticism should should play a part in the evaluation of the points raised. Either that or we have to pay journalists as much as the “richest man in the world” to gain any sort of critical insight in the world we live in

He already has, with him kick-starting the EV revolution and being the first private company into space. I think he’s great, and buying his TSLA shares certainly helped my bottom line.. Am less convinced he’s on the right track with the robot.

Proof positive that recreational drug use isn’t much of a drag on a driven brainiac like Musk. The whinging won’t stop him making many hundreds of thousands of very happy investors even richer and probably cooking up another few staggeringly successful startups before he’s done. The dislike for him has more to do with the fact that he doesn’t conform to the woke script that is so popular at the moment amongst the empty suits of the western corporate world at the moment.

I am surprised that DM has found it necessary to republish this piece. You would think that Musk is the only CEO or person in the USA, the nation with the highest drug intake of any country in the world, to have smoked a joint, or taken drugs (unconfirmed by any reliable source). This seems to be a piece penned by those that fear his dominance in the sectors in which he operates rather than real facts. Best to stay away from the crap unless you can verify it DM. We really do expect more of you.

Pretty sure the a large portion of Silicon Valley has experimented with drugs (and attending Burning Man is basically a requirement). No real sources or quotes in the WSJ article – are they 100% impartial here or trying to take him down? This is old news?
Yawn. A couple of recreational drugs makes you a threat to national security, whilst those poring over your habits do so through the bottom of a bottle? Don’t like Musk’s arrogance (although he’s achieved a bit so maybe some justification) or politics, but I couldn’t give a damn about his lifestyle as long as it’s not dangerous. Winston Churchill apparently finished a bottle of red before lunch every day and is admired for it!

There is growing body of evidence that controlled use of LSD. Psylocibin, etc (what conservatives scream “DRUUUGS!!!!”) is infinitely more beneficial than crap that big pharma will happily prescribe. Fentanyl, enyone?
