TKO’d by church scale model, Berlusconi stays in hospital bed

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will be in the hospital until Tuesday after an assailant broke his nose and two teeth with a scale model of the Milan Cathedral. Berlusconi was hit by his apparently mentally unstable assailant after a support rally for the prime minister had finished. The 42-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault. The suspect, Massimo Tartaglia, was said by police to have a history of mental illness, receiving treatment over a 10-year period. While some of Berlusconi's supporters gathered outside the hospital to wish him well, within 24 hours of the attack nearly 70,000 people had signed up to a Facebook site dedicated to Tartaglia.
