Swedes follow where Finns dared to thread

The Daily Maverick reported a while ago that Finland had introduced the concept of broadband connection being a right rather than a privilege. So now, surprise, surprise, Sweden has also joined in the announcements game, promising to provide 90% of Swedish homes with 100Mb of broadband by 2020. Ok, it does sound a bit farfetched (will we be technologically advanced enough, things like that), but the Swedish government’s intentions are pretty clear: the society of the future is the information one and plumbing for it needs to be equated to any other infrastructure.
