Another Gulf of Mexico oil rig bursts into flames

An oil and gas platform burst into flames in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, forcing the evacuation of 13 personnel working on the rig. The workers donned brightly coloured suits and floated in the Gulf o Mexico for a couple of hours before they were picked up by a supply ship. The blaze was eventually extinguished couple of hours later. The coast guard said that there were no apparent signs of an oil leak; Mariner Energy, the company responsible for this particular rig have a history of fires and safety violations, according to reports.
