PR jaunt goes awry as Mexicans hold journalists
It was apparently a case of mistaken identity. A group of Nahua Indians in southern Mexico were upset that a film crew was making a beer advertisement on their property, so they took action. But they mistook a group of 13 journalists – on a government trip to promote tourism – for the film crew, and briefly kidnapped them. The locals then freed the journalists (but not their expensive equipment) and went after the advertising crew. The filmmakers were also released unharmed shortly after, but with one hell of a story to tell. AP
