Alcoa is back to profit
After three consecutive losses, Alcoa surprised a grateful world and appreciative markets with actual profits of $77 million, compared to the last quarter loss of a whopping $454 million. Alcoa said their more efficient operations and the raising of the aluminium price were the main engines of the turnaround, but have also said that the worldwide demand for aluminium jumped 11% percent this year over 2008, indicating manufacturing recovery was coming our way.
