Guinea leader condemns France
Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, who heads Guinea's ruling military junta after a recent coup, says he will no longer deal with France after it criticised him for a bloody crackdown on protesters in which up to 200 people died. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner has called for international intervention to quell rising tensions in the world's biggest bauxite supplier. Kouchner's remarks were the latest international condemnation of Camara, who has alarmed the country’s opposition by refusing to opt out of presidential elections set for January. The African Union gave him until mid-October to confirm that he will not run in the elections, warning it will impose sanctions if he misses the deadline.
