iPhone 4 sells 600,000 units on first day of pre-orders

The iPhone 4 looks set to sell more units than either previous models of the phone or the iPad. Apple shares rose 3 percent on Wednesday on strong demand for the new iPhone. However, sales were temporarily stopped as online systems were unable to cope with the massive demand. The device will go on sale in stores on June 24, and phones ordered on the Internet will be shipped on July 14.  Read more: Reuters
