Chicks count from left to right – just like us

Scientists in Italy trained chicks (no, not that kind) to count, using food rewards, and discovered that the birds had a proclivity to choose the food dispensers on the left over the ones on the right. This suggests strongly that the chicks counted from left to right, like all human cultures do. Now you know. Read more: New Scientist
