LRA commander hands himself over

A senior commander of Uganda's brutal Lord's Resistance Army, whose unit is believed to have killed and adducted hundreds of people, has surrendered to a special Ugandan military force hunting rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The LRA, headed by the infamous Joseph Kony, has conducted a decades-long rebellion using child soldiers and rape in its war against the government. The conflict has spread from Uganda to the DRC, the Central African Republic and Sudan. Reports say the commander’s force of around 100 fighters had nearly been wiped-out, leaving him no option but to surrender.
