At least 41 killed in Pakistani market bombing

Yet another suicide bomb killed 41 people in Pakistan, the fourth militant attack in little more than a week. The Taliban has pledged to mobilise fighters across the country for more strikes. It has now claimed responsibility for the weekend attack on the nation's army headquarters. Its claim that a Punjabi faction of the Pakistani Taliban carried out the attack indicates insurgents have forged links with militants outside areas close to the Afghan border. The army, however, has claimed the attack began from South Waziristan where the military is preparing an offensive against the Taliban’s base of operations along the frontier.
