Meanwhile, Soros to invest $1billion into clean energy
In a move that was somewhat overdue, George Soros announced in Copenhagen that he will invest $1billion in clean energy technology and create an organisation with the sole purpose of increasing policymakers’ awareness on environmental issues. He stated that his goal was to make money, but also to contribute to solving a global problem. Soros, whose wealth is estimated at $24 billion, has a long history of investing in issues aimed at improving democracy and accountability of governments all over the world. He’s one of the biggest defenders of freedom of expression and his liberal views helped him be singled out as America’s ideological enemy during Bush presidency.
