Martitzburg United coach accuses PSL of Soweto Derby conspiracy

Ernst Middendorp, the Maritzburg United coach, has spent his weekend and Monday raging furiously against the Premier Soccer League, after his side were eliminated from the Telkom Knockout in the semifinals by Orlando Pirates on Sunday. The German coach said that the decision to move the game from Harry Gwala stadium in Pietermaritzburg to Chatsworth contributed to Maritzburg United's 3-0 loss to Pirates. According to the PSL, the decision to move the game was made by the police, who deemed Harry Gwala to be a security risk, reasoning which Middendorp questions, as the team will be allowed to use the stadium on Friday. Middendorp stopped just short of accusing the PSL of orchestrating a Chiefs-Pirates final for the tournament (claiming leniency from the referee for Pirates), two teams which have traditionally drawn the biggest crowds to their matches.
