MDC not taking home affairs to court

The Movement for Democratic Change said that it isn't planning to get a court order to force the home affairs department to extend its 31 December amnesty deadline for undocumented Zimbabweans living in South Africa. This came after an official of the MDC in the Eastern Cape said that the party would be approaching the courts to get the minister of home affairs to extend the 31 December deadline. MDC spokesperson Sibanengi Dube said that the party was working together with the South African government to give Zimbabweans their "correct papers". Dube offered an unreserved apology to the home affairs department, saying that the regional chairman's remarks had been misquoted by the media. Read more: Sapa, via News24
