Times Square bomber gets life
Faisal Shahzad, the man who plotted to detonate a bomb in New York's Times Square in May, was sentenced on Tuesday to life imprisonment. The fertiliser-based bomb that he'd placed in his car failed to detonate, but Shahzad has stated that he intended to kill at least 40 people. Shahzad was found guilty of the attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and an attempt to kill or maim, among other charges. Read more: LA Times
