Zim judge sues Bennett for defamation

Zimbabwean Judge Chinembiri Bhunu, who acquitted opposition stalwart Roy Bennett of treason in May this year, has now sued Bennett for $1 million. (That would be US dollars, since Zim dollars were abandoned in 2009). The judge filed papers at the Harare High Court on Friday claiming defamation over remarks that Bennett had made to the media during his trial. Bennett allegedly insinuated that Bhunu would not be impartial in his judgement, owing to the fact that the government had given him a farm seized from a white farmer. Read more: Sapa, via News24
