Holland and Spain fined for World Cup final indiscipline

Holland and Spain will have to fork out £9,075 and £6,050 respectively, for their players' poor discipline in the World Cup final match. Holland received eight yellow cards, and Heitinga received a red card after two bookable offences. Spain received five yellow cards. According to Fifa rules, a team is automatically fined if it receives five or more sanctions in one match. Paradoxically, this is exactly the same Spanish team that received the Fifa Fair Play Award for incurring the least number of bookings in the tournament. Read more: The Guardian
