American Idol creator spurs new reality show

Simon Fuller, the creator of "American Idol, is to create a new reality show produced on the Internet in real-time. Called "If I Can Dream", it will follow the lives of five aspiring actors and musicians who head off to Hollywood in search of fame and glory. Sounds a bit like Big Brother without the house. Their daily activities will be shown live on a website, and they will interact with viewers through blogs and social networks such as Facebook. Re-runs will be streamed exclusively on the Hulu platform, which is a popular website for watching shows from television networks such as NBC and Fox (and isn't available in South Africa). Initially, the new show won't be shown on TV, reversing the format of other such shows. Read more: Ad Age, The New York Times
