Iranian government arrests more than 200 in student protests

The Iranian government vowed it would carry out tougher action against protesters as hard-line government supporters on motorcycles harassed the top opposition leader at his office – likely signs of a further crackdown against its opposition. Analysts say the government may be fearful that protest movements could begin to pick up steam again. Recently, demonstrators showed an increased boldness, breaking the biggest taboo in Iran, burning pictures of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and chanting slogans against him.
