US jobless claims fall in modest sign of better times to come
One swallow doesn't make a summer, but the fact that the number of newly unemployed workers filing for unemployment benefits has dropped below half-a-million for the first time since January may be a hopeful sign. Additionally, consumer spending also rose somewhat and new home sales are at their highest point in a year according to the latest figures from the US government. However, some economists are still worried the economy may end up slipping back into recession.
