Host expects real pledges at Copenhagen climate talks

Denmark's Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said  he expects the US to bring specific pledges to cut greenhouse gases to December's climate conference. He added that President Barack Obama supported a sweeping deal that included industrial nation commitments to reduce carbon emissions and provide funds for less-developed countries to fight the effects of global warming. Loekke Rasmussen's remarks ramp up pressure on Obama, who has been reluctant to move too far out in front of slow-moving domestic climate legislation, as bold international promises could be opposed by Congress. The Senate only plans to debate its climate and energy bill in 2010. For more, read the AP
