UK government approves 10 nuclear power stations

In a sweeping statement on the UK’s energy future, its government is pushing for 10 new nuclear power stations that would be operating before 2018. Energy secretary Ed Miliband, stated that the UK’s future rests with a "trinity" of future fuel options, nuclear, renewable energy and clean coal. And it will come not a moment too soon, as most of the current generation of nuclear stations is to be switched off by 2023. At the same time, Miliband committed the country to meet its renewables targets with more onshore and offshore wind farms. Read more: BBC News
