MDC heads back to unity government

Just as Southern African Development Community leaders began talks in Mozambique aimed at preventing the collapse of Zimbabwe's unity government, Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai called off his party's boycott of the alliance with President Robert Mugabe. Tsvangirai is giving Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party 30 days to fulfil all aspects of the power-sharing agreement. But other reports say SADC - as guarantor of the 2008 power-sharing deal – has given them 15 days to resolve the issues. One outstanding issue, which prompted the walkout, concerns the terrorism charges against  Roy Bennett, a senior Movement for Democratic Change official, who was due to be sworn in as a deputy agriculture minister before he was arrested and subsequently released on bail.
