Kenyan building collapse traps workers

Kenyan authorities fear dozens of people are trapped after a multi-storey building on the outskirts of Nairobi collapsed following heavy rains. The building was under construction with up to 50 workers on the site. Reports say at least 10 people have been taken to hospital. Other buildings have collapsed in recent years, prompting calls for stricter building regulations to be enforced. But the nation’s capital is experiencing a construction boom, despite the global recession, with building companies accused of flouting regulations and not enforcing strict safety measures in their rush to meet demand.
