22 Questions with Tamsin Metelerkamp

Wrapping up 22 Questions for the year is journalist Tamsin Meterlerkamp:

I’m an overthinker, prone to running through my thoughts out loud while getting them untangled.

Seldom as planned.

Hmm. Tough to pick. Current top three – the Galápagos Islands; Vardzia cave monastery in Georgia; the Okavango Delta.

I’m busy working my way through Stephen King’s On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft.
He writes: “Stories are found things, like fossils in the ground… Stories are relics, part of an undiscovered pre-existing world. The writer’s job is to use the tools in his or her toolbox to get as much of each one out of the ground intact as possible.”

Nothing that I can think of off the top of my head. Not sure if that means I’m sensible in my purchases, or inclined to stand by my questionable ones.

Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld series by Sir Terry Pratchett.

I cannot resist a well-bound notebook, and it’s money well spent every time.

Leonard Cohen. I have always found his lyrics and poetry moving, and am curious about how he saw the world.

Don’t really have one. I’m a meet first, crush later kind of person.

The Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.

To travel the world. Still a work in progress.

If it comes down to who has made me laugh the most, it is probably my brother, Marc.

To be lost at sea.

I’m not sure. Probably most people, if we’re talking hours.

What is your favourite book or story?
