Not so much an item, but rather a tattoo written in both my parents’ handwriting that says ‘Ndino kuda’ which means ‘I love you’ in my home language Shona. 

If I am having a bad day, I am most comforted by the presence of my loved ones. A hug from my nearest and dearest has never failed to ease whatever I am worried about.

I’d probably put the following Audre Lorde quote: “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation and that is an act of political warfare.”

An interesting dinner party guest, (in a good way).

I wish I was a morning person, it feels like the right thing to be. But unfortunately, I will avoid an early morning at any cost so definitely a night person.

Learning to focus on what I can control and releasing anxieties about what I can’t.

I can be quite clumsy, so probably from tripping over something.

I would love to learn how to crochet. I bought a crochet hook so I’m almost there.

Hustle culture and the whole ‘rise and grind’ mentality. I think we could all benefit from unlearning that, and seeing that rest is a productive practice too.

I would probably go to Bali and spend about a year there teaching yoga and being near the ocean. Then I would spend my remaining time with my friends and family at home. 

Probably thoughts about how deep my anxieties are about young people in this country right now. 

That nobody has it all figured out.

Random acts of kindness.

I wish we all spent a lot less time on social media, on our phones and in front of technology in general.

I would probably start by making changes in the way our police and law authorities deal with gender-based violence in order to start creating a South Africa where the safety of women and femme bodies are prioritized and receive meaningful justice if violated
