Driver nabbed with bomb material inside a bus heading from Kenya from Tanzania
Nairobi - Police in Kenya have arrested a driver and his conductor after they were caught ferrying detonators from Tanzania to Kenya.
The two were arrested at the Namanga border in Kajiado County after the materials were found in a bus they were operating.
According to the inscriptions on the detonators, they were sent from Tanzania to a Kenyan by the name Juma.
This came as al-Shabaab militants threats were increasing in the country, with security agents, however, foiling multiple attacks especially in the border towns.
Over the weekend, police in Mombasa gunned down an al-Shabaab returnee, alongside his two accomplices who were terrorising area residents. They also recovered a G3 rifle, two magazines, police uniforms, communication gadgets, and a pair of handcuff from their house.
A fortnight ago, police also raided an al-Shabaab safe house in Isiolo County and recovered materials which the suspects were using to make bombs and other improvised explosive devices.
