W00t! bills AP $17.50 for quoting from its blog

When Amazon bought W00t! in June, chief executive Matt Rutledge sent out a pretty funny email to staff explaining the acquisition. Associated Press then ran the text, which it picked up from the W00t! blog. Given AP's draconian policy regarding quotations (bloggers must cough up if they quote so much of a phrase from an AP story), W00t! thought it only fair to bill the news wire for its usage, and sent AP an invoice for $17.50.
