Cyril Ramaphosa’s financial backers committed a grave mistake in donating millions of rand to his campaign, and have set him up for failure. They have sowed distrust between him and his largely poor constituencies that always viewed him with suspicion. They have confirmed he’s there to protect the interests of those who want the status quo to remain.
