The cartoonist forgot to add a pile of skulls on the South African side which is many times higher. 27000 people were murdered in South Africa between April 2022 and March 2023 alone due to the government ignoring it's constitutional obligation to protect its citizens. This cartoonist convienently ignores the ugly truth.

Disgusting from Daily Maverick and Nathi. Not sure why whenever an Israeli is depicted the size of their nose has to be accentuated? The tone of the comic is overtly anti Israel - this was a case which was argued using legal precepts and no insults like the ones included in the 'comic' were made. Additionally stating that 23000+ civilians have been killed and piling up skulls to depict it behind the Israelis is shocking - the number of civilians killed is high but the 23000+ includes between seven and nine thousand Hamas fighters who have been killed in battle. Hamas does not distinguish between civilians and terrorists killed in their reporting. This is simply misinformation and is below the standard of journalism and care expected from DM!
How do you calculate the number of fighters killed? And how do you define or identify a fighter as opposed to a civilian?

Israel is at war with an enemy combatant army as an act of self defense. HAMAS invaded Israel & slaughtered, raped, burnt, & murdered approx. 1,200 innocent infants, woman, children & men, unprovoked. If you want proof, HAMAS captured all of it on video & much of this sickening footage is available online, they're proud of it. HAMAS has publicly stated their objective is the slaughter of Jews and the complete destruction of Israel. If you want proof, google it, the HAMAS charter has 36 articles, it's clearly laid out in them online. While you're at it, look up the definition of genocide, you'll realise you've mistakenly accused the victim instead of the aggressor/HAMAS.

Daily Maverick, which purports to fact check its publication has missed this. How many of the dead are Hamas militants? The IDF says "around 10,000". How many died from rockets fired by Hamas and Islamic Jihad at Israel but that landed in Gaza? The statement that all dead Gazans are non-combatants and all are victims of Israeli firepower is false. Please redress this falsehood.

I have travelled to both Palestine & Israel on several occasions & I am well informed of both sides of this argument & encourage you to educate yourselves before commenting further. The HAMAS Covenant is a comprehensive manifesto comprised of 36 separate articles, all of which promote the basic HAMAS goal of destroying the State of Israel through Jihad. The most relevant of the document’s 36 articles can be summarized as falling within three main themes: 1. The complete destruction of Israel as an essential condition for the liberation of Palestine and the establishment of a theocratic state based on Islamic law (Sharia), 2. The need for both unrestrained and unceasing holy war (jihad) to attain the above objective, 3. The deliberate disdain for, and dismissal of, any negotiated resolution or political settlement of Jewish and Muslim claims to the Holy Land Simply put, HAMAS's objective is the Slaughter of Jews and the Complete Destruction of Israel. To Argue Otherwise is Dishonest and Dangerous. Why is it that the South African Government chooses to ignore the above facts? As an aside, if the South African Government has UBUNTU as they claim, why are they keeping quiet on all the other recent & ongoing atrocities globally? There's too many to mention. My understanding is that a war is going on. Someone with access to the SA legal team should get the numbers of civilians (both sides), Palestinian soliders and Israeli soldiers killed. From my reading, some of the Palestinian rockets fired are exploding in Gaza, leading to some of the deaths.
Ubuntu - a truly big word and not to be used so lightly. Only truly appreciated if witnessed, seen or experienced as a fellow human being. I have seen Ubuntu, witnessed the humanity of it and experienced the simple goodness of this blessing personally, and am the better person for it. It emanates directly from our Soul, is felt in our hearts, an expression of Love and empathy for our fellow man. In our South Africa of today it is scarce, driven out by greed, haste and the pressing need to survive. As one who truly knows Ubuntu I must respectfully say that the above cartoon is worlds removed from our sad country today, is untrue to the extreme and is a tragic misuse of the word Ubuntu. Shame on all who associate themselves with the misrepresentation of what is a glorious state of humanity at its very best. “ Love your neighbor…” I am an African and proud to be so - I embrace Ubuntu - I despise the misuse of its spirit for false profit.
