The Durban Coalition

The Durban Coalition is a growing non-political coalition of civil society organisations. Its members represent a range of social movements, environmental and social justice NGOs, community-based organisations, academics and civic structures such as ratepayers and residents’ associations. Formed in May 2022 in response to the April 2022 climate-induced floods, The Durban Coalition seeks to create a strong and co-ordinated civil society network within the eThekwini municipal area to address inequality and social justice for those most vulnerable in the city.
