Sandile Mabaso

Sandile Mabaso spent his formative years in KZN, it was thus more than fitting that he would find himself at the Drakensberg Boys Choir School where his impressive tenor voice was guided by Christian Ashley-Botha. While at University of Pretoria studying for his B.Mus he impressed with student performances in Mozarts The Magic Flute (Tamino) and in Strauss Die Fledermaus (Alfredo). His first professional engagement in 2006 was the role of Inkosi Mathole in Princess Magogo (Khumalo) for Opera Africa, which toured South Africa and the Netherlands. As a member of the Cape Town Opera Vocal Ensemble he toured Germany, France and Sweden in Showboat (Kern) and in Porgy & Bess (Gershwin).
