What I cover

Journalism found me, and I was drawn to it as a way to be a people’s advocate and source of information. I mostly write about corporate corruption, personal finance and education.

My background

I worked as a radio broadcaster at Thaba Nchu FM in the Free State. After that I spent three years as a journalism tutor at the Cape Peninsual University of Technology (CPUT). I was awarded for being a top achiever for my journalism diploma at CPUT. The transition from student to landing a role at a publication I admire has been quick. Sometimes I pinch myself, wondering if it’s all real – it’s a dream come true. A career highlight has been the investigative work I’ve done with colleague Don Pinnock on Daybreak Foods.

Journalistic ethics

Ethics are the backbone of journalism. I subscribe to truth, fairness and objectivity. I strive to always have a variety of sources, reflect more perspectives, check the credibility of those I quote and be objective in my reporting.
