Jan Vermeulen

In the early nineties, Jan Vermeulen relocated to Bushbuckridge to focus his efforts on rural economic development. He subsequently established the Bushbuckridge Local Business Service Centre. During this time, he facilitated numerous economic projects ranging from subsistence to commercial agriculture, tourism, informal trade and other small business opportunities. In 2018, he published his book titled Fighting Poverty in South Africa: a Practical Approach. Nowadays he is paying particular attention to Early Childhood Development, as this is where children fall into the lifelong clutches of poverty due to stunting.
