Ivor Sarakinsky

Ivor Sarakinsky teaches at the Wits School of Governance and has a PhD in Political Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand. Sarakinsky's thesis applied theories of the state to the reform and transition processes in South Africa. His research interests include political theory, philosophy of science and social science, democratisation and democratic consolidation, state capacity in policy formulation and implementation and NEPAD's African Peer Review Mechanism. Ivor taught political theory and philosophy at under and post-graduate level while researching theories of the state and the behaviour of the South African state in the transition to democracy. He has published articles in all these areas in national and international, peer-reviewed journals and book collections. He was an exert for the ANC's legal team in the Idasa case and his work as been published in reputable international scholarly journals as well as the EISA Election Update 2014.
