Defend Truth

What I cover

As cliche as it sounds, I’m drawn to people – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

My background

I studied at UCT, with a brief and ill-timed stint as a psychology student at North West University just as Covid-19 hit. I consulted the president of Namibia on GBV when I was 19. My qualifications to do so? Protesting and getting teargassed a few times. I don’t really know what I learnt from it, other than not to trust politicians, but that’s the moment I really took an interest in journalism. So, if you don’t like my reporting or newsletters, blame the presidency of Namibia.

Journalistic ethics

Journalism, at its core, is about speaking truth to power. Every single piece of good journalism makes it harder for the corrupt and the morally bankrupt to spread their lies and propaganda, because it creates a record that challenges them. That’s the mission: Defend truth.
