Anri van der Spuy, Jamie Fuller and Alison Gillwald
Dr Anri van der Spuy is a senior research associate at Research ICT Africa, specialising in digital risk, internet and data governance. She is also a part-time consultant on Internet and digital policy challenges, with a development focus, to various United Nations agencies and intergovernmental organisations. She holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE). Jamie Fuller is a junior researcher and executive research assistant at Research ICT Africa. Her research examines the governance frameworks and mechanisms required for data, artificial intelligence and digital public infrastructures to address rather than widen growing socioeconomic inequalities. She holds a Master’s in Philosophy from the University of Cape Town (UCT). Professor Alison Gillwald is the executive director of Research ICT Africa and an adjunct professor at the University of Cape Town’s Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance. Her research and practice focus on digital equality, data justice and internet, data and AI governance across Africa and the Global South, including leading RIA’s influential After Access surveys and providing technical assistance to the African Union Commission on the AU Data Policy Framework.
