Dr Alexandra Leisegang holds a PhD in Political Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). Her thesis focused on the evolution of the Democratic Alliance from its origins as the Progressive Party in 1959. Leisegang worked for the DA in Parliament in the early 2010s and was a branch and constituency committee member in Johannesburg. She now works in strategic planning at Wits. She writes in her personal capacity.
