Anthem has been a pioneer from the beginning:
- The 67MW Umoya Wind Farm was South Africa’s first utility-scale renewable project to reach financial close and commercial operation back in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
- The 96MW Castle Wind Farm, launched in partnership with Sibanye-Stillwater, is currently the largest private-offtake wind farm in operation in South Africa.
- The 72MW Msenge Emoyeni Wind Farm was the first private wind farm project to reach financial close and commercial operation. Sasol is the offtaker of Msenge.
- The 144MW Ishwati Emoyeni Wind Farm was the first project to reach financial close with a trader as an offtaker, that being NOA.
- Anthem is now doing O&M on over 450MW of Anthem-owned PV projects.
These are not isolated milestones. They represent a consistent pattern: innovation, speed to market and a commitment to deliver.
Scale that Matters
Today, Anthem manages 2.7GW of secured renewable energy capacity across wind, solar PV and hydro projects. That’s more than 12% of South Africa’s IPP renewable market hare. Few others can match this scale or proven ability to deliver at pace.

Impact Beyond Energy
Since 2014, Anthem’s projects have offset 11.3 million tonnes of CO₂, helping decarbonise industries and protect the environment. Beyond climate impact, Anthem has invested over R600 million in socio-economic and enterprise development. These initiatives support 1,200 SMEs and have improved the lives of thousands of South Africans.
Local Ownership, Local Growth
Anthem is South African grown and South African owned. With significant black ownership at both platform and project levels, Anthem is actively advancing inclusive growth in the renewable sector.
“Anthem proves that renewable energy is not just about clean power. It’s about creating jobs, strengthening industries, and building communities,” says COO Ryan Hammond. The evidence is clear: Anthem doesn’t just talk about change — it delivers it for it’s customers and the communities around their projects. DM
