Marianne Thamm lights up Gqeberha stage with sharp satire

The lights dimmed, the audience hushed — and then Marianne Thamm lit up the stage. Nelson Mandela Bay packed out The Athenaeum in Central for an evening of sharp humour, fearless commentary and unfiltered Thamm brilliance. Her one-woman show, Round of Applause, offered a razor-sharp, deeply honest commentary on South Africa’s absurdities. Thamm wove stories and satire together, making hard truths hit with a laugh, drawing cheers and knowing smiles in equal measure. The event was supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
