Speed Classic Cape Town 2025: Iconic cars conquer Philip Kgosana Drive in debut hillclimb

From pre-war classics to more modern supercars, more than 140 vehicles took on the Philip Kgosana Drive at the first-ever Speed Classic Cape Town. Set against the backdrop of Table Mountain, the event celebrated South Africa’s rich motoring culture with speed, spectacle and style. Daily Maverick's Righard Kapp was there.

Hi Mike, I followed up with the organisers' racing experts and this is what they had to say: "There was a C-type continuation project that started in 2021, first order went out in 2022. Only 8 were produced and then production ended again, I don't know for sure but it's possible Kobus bought one of those eight and got delivery in 2024."
