And we suffer from very poor decisions made here in South Africa. So now. Just for a minute let's view Trump as the figurehead. He represents the US. And he is, importantly, backed by the US. This is not about Trump, he is a messenger of the will of the US people. What then?

Redi Tlhabi is correct. This is not only about trade and economics. South Africa's tariffs were effectively set a long time ago when we brought Israel before the ICJ. Their ambassador's cock and bull story about the mysterious goings on with a Russian ship were more grist to Trump's mill.
