PHOTO ESSAY
In rhythm with the land: The quiet strength of everyday village life
In South Africa’s rural villages, challenging as the day-to-day may be at times, life also moves with the sun, gentle, steady, and tied to the land. Children run barefoot along dusty paths, laughter rising through open fields. At the river’s edge, women wash clothes and trade stories. As the sun sets in gold and violet, families gather in easy conversation, bound by a shared pace and place. In this photo essay, Daily Maverick photojournalist Felix Dlangamandla visits Bulungula village, along the Eastern Cape’s Wild Coast.
