GRA’s journey began in 2008 with the inception of Sports Academy George. Initially established as a program to connect with underprivileged children through sports, the initiative focused on building relationships, fostering unity, and providing mentorship. Recognizing the transformative potential of holistic development, the program evolved, and in January 2019 George Royal Academy, a non-profit private school dedicated to changing lives of youth in the underprivileged communities in George, opened.

GRA aims to advance God’s kingdom by raising up the next generation of Christian leaders in the township communities. GRA offers a unique blend of quality education, competitive sports programs, and personal development. Students, selected for their sporting abilities, receive full bursaries that cover sports uniform, transportation, and meals, ensuring they can focus entirely on their academic and athletic pursuits.
The academy’s approach is built on the values of excellence, work ethic, teamwork, and character development. By integrating academic achievement with physical and spiritual growth, GRA aims to empower students to break the cycle of poverty and transform their lives.

The recent 100% pass rate is a testament to the academy’s commitment to fostering success. Principal Hendri Swanepoel expressed pride in the students, saying, “This achievement reflects the dedication of our students and the unwavering support of our teachers, mentors, and staff. It’s a reminder of what is possible when we invest in young people and their futures.”
