At least 94 die in fuel tanker explosion in Nigeria, police say

Oct 16 (Reuters) - At least 94 people have died in northern Nigeria and 50 others sustained injuries in a fuel tanker explosion, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The blast in Jigawa state happened late on Tuesday in Majia, a town in the Taura local government area, spokesperson for Jigawa State Police Command Lawan Shiisu told Reuters by telephone.

The wounded have been taken to local hospitals in Ringim and Hadejia towns where they are being treated, he said.
