I am cautiously optimistic about South Africas future. Exchange rate improving but not sure if this is based on whats currently happening politically or for other reasons.

Wow, I'm feeling more positive about SA's political situation than I have for well over a decade.

One of the articles indicates that appointments will be shared across the partner parties. Does that mean instead of just ANC cadres, we will now see ANC + DA + IFP cadres in key Gov/SOE roles? Will we ever see positions filled by the best technocrat, regardless of party affiliation??

Hopefully he will be a president for ALL South Africans this time and not only for his cadres

A week ago the ANC looked dead- they are pulling of a blinder in 'retaining' eight provinces and probably key ministries in government. Ramaphosa/ANC knows the point of diplomacy is not that you talk, it is to create leverage and then use that leverage in conversation to try make deals.

South African doesn't deserve peace, reconciliation and prosperity. We shall all have to work very hard for any progress into the future. The heretofore impossibility of the ANC working with the DA....and other enlightened political parties is now a reality.

We the people...all of us, must make sure, by constant vigilance and pressure, that the people working on our behalf do the job efficiently, honestly and do what has not been done over the last 20 years. WE MUST MAKE SOUTH AFRICA WORK AGAIN FOR EVERYONE. If we don't ..then shame on us!

Watching on TV and agree that counting of votes should public. Many people are distrustful of a whitie, and understandably so. I also agree that it's not the time to change the rules. However, this breaks secret voting, which means party numbers rule. So who trusts the trustees?

I'm old enough to remember what marthinus van schalkwyk and his nats did to their supporters after 94 and young enough not to be sold on the da's holier than thou bullshit. Time will tell whether they abandon the rest of the country for the anc to leave them un-harassed in the Western Cape
