President Cyril Ramaphosa will [sign the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill](https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2024-05-13-ramaphosa-to-sign-nhi-bill-into-law-before-polls/) into law on Wednesday, 15 May despite concern from opposition political parties and the private medical industry about its financial viability and impact on the healthcare system.
